BLUE HAMMER TRAINING

USE OF FORCE

Use-of-force decisions are among the most scrutinized actions taken by law enforcement officers. This course simplifies the legal principles governing the use of force and explains how those rules apply to both civilians and law enforcement officers. By examining the law from a broader perspective, officers gain a clearer and more practical understanding of how their actions will be evaluated in real-world legal settings.

Participants will also learn how prosecutors and courts analyze use-of-force incidents when determining whether charges should be filed, how cases are presented to juries, and how officer credibility issues—such as Brady/Giglio concerns—may arise. The course also addresses best practices for managing the aftermath of officer-involved critical incidents. Officers will leave with a clearer understanding of how to make legally sound decisions and protect both themselves and their cases.
